USAID Project Support in SEAP Development in Ternopil
The basis for developing the complex energy efficiency measures included in the SEAP were the results of energy audits conducted in major sectors of the municipal infrastructure. The study was conducted by leading Ukrainian experts who, together with the specialists of the City Executive Committee and communal utilities, have developed several dozen investment proposals.
To make the implementation of the Ternopil SEAP more effective, the USAID Project team collected the project proposals and developed the catalog of investment projects. For each project included in the SEAP, experts on financial investments and strategic planning identified the best financing sources and strategy.
The catalog includes the projects from the updated SEAP with the greatest possible return on investment, as well as the projects and measures that have maximum economic, climatic and/or social effect.
The implementation of SEAP measures in full by 2020 will: reduce CO2 emissions by 102,410 t/year or 22.15% of the baseline year (2012); reduce energy resources consumption by 339.7 th. MWh a year. It is planned to bring the use of renewable energy sources up to 94 th. MWh/year. The energy savings expected as a result of the implementation of all SEAP measures – 679,400 MWh/year.
