The USAID Project is conducting an active information campaign in the city. Outdoor social advertising "Insulate Correctly!" developed by the USAID Project is placed in Zaporizhzhia on 34 billboards. The Sustainable Energy Days were already conducted in Zaporizhzhia with the USAID Project support twice (16-20 June 2015 and 14-18 June 2016). During the Sustainable Energy Days, the city residents and guests could participate in many entertaining and educating activities devoted to attraction of attention to the problems of energy efficiency, social protection of population, tariff reform. The local television broadcastedthe program Your Home created with support of the USAID Project for UA:PERSHYI TV channel.

In 2016, five schools of the city participated in the national competition on energy saving within the framework of the USAID Project. Zaporizhzhia Secondary School # 100 became one of the winners.

The Registry of Investment Projects calls for the taking out of a UAH 17.9 million for implementation of informational (“soft”) measures. It is expected that the implementation of a successful information campaign will create a significant cumulative effect from the implementation of energy efficiency projects in other sectors, and will make an indirect contribution in the reduction of total CO2 emissions by the city.

CONDOMINIUM RESOURCE CENTERS SUPPORT

In Zaporizhzhia, activities of the associations of co-owners of multi-apartment buildings (condominiums) are supported byNGO “OZhBK, SBKB Victoria” – Resource Center. In 2015 - 1st half of 2016, the Resource Center team conducted meetings on condominium establishment with representatives of 912 initiative groups and 1,200 residents of multi-apartment buildings.

In the first half of 2016, 305 new condominiums were established in Zaporizhzhia. As of 30 June 2016, there is a  total of 466 condominiums in the city.

The Resource Center organized almost thirty training events (seminars and round tables), in particular, on energy saving and energy efficiency and changes in legislation related to condominiums. They also exchanged experience with the Condominium Resource Center in Dnipro regarding the reorganization of housing cooperatives into condominiums. As there is demand for information on condominiums in the city, the Resource Center consultants took part in several dozen episodes, TV and radio live shows, provided comments for almost one hundred printed and internet articles.  For the dissemination of current information among the residents, the RC produced 1,500 calendars, 500 booklets on the Resource Center, over 2,200 brochures and distribution materials for the seminars

The RC team initiated the development and adoption of the municipal program on compensation of interest on bank loans of the condominiums, and participated in the development of the procedure for providing privileges and subsidies to the residents of those residential buildings in which condominiums are established. Also, the RC specialists are involved in conducting practical classes in the educational establishments of the city.

The city and district Condominium and Housing Cooperative Councils were established with the direct participation of the RC consultants. The RC consultants are members of the task force at the Deputies Commission on implementing the Law of Ukraine # 417-VIII “On the Specifics of Exercising Ownership Rights in Multi-Apartment Buildings”.

With the assistance of the USAID Project, the Energy Efficiency Center was created on the basis of the RC. It popularizes energy efficiency measures and the economical use of energy resources in the residential buildings;  increased awareness of the energy efficient technologies. The Center presents examples of the technology, equipment and materials which enable saving energy and increasing comfort.
