The USAID Municipal Energy Reform Project is implementing an information campaign, including in Kyiv, as teaching Ukrainians to be responsible consumers of energy resources is a very important task. The information campaign measures can give a significant effect for relatively low expenses. As a result, everyone can feel personal responsibility for heat and comfort in their apartments, for managing their own housing, etc.

Three television channels in Kyiv were broadcasting the “Your Home” TV show created with the support of the USAID Project on the state-owned TV channel UA:PERSHYI. The “Insulate Correctly!” outdoor social advertising of the USAID Project was placed on 189 big boards and 12 city-lights in the city.

The city regularly takes part in European Sustainable Energy Week.

The Registry of Investment Projects also includes the implementation of information (“soft”) measures. UAH 288.6 million of funding is envisaged for the measures proposed in the Registry. They include: changes in the building codes and rules according to current European requirements; preparation and implementation of the programs on the mandatory certification of public and residential buildings in the city; transition to financing of energy efficiency modernization programs for public buildings on the basis of direct quantitative efficiency indicators; development of a unified information portal for monitoring the condition of every building in the city; implementation of a certification program for specialists on the efficient use of energy resources in the structural units of the municipality and public institutions; implementation of a three-year PR campaign for media and residents; introduction of long-term training programs on energy efficiency for educational establishments.
