HEAT LEAVES YOUR APARTMENT AND DOES NOT COME BACK!
And if it comes back – it is only in the form of heat supply services for which you pay money.
Here are 10 tips that will help you to save both heat and money.
Fact one: Almost 30% of all heat leaves your apartment through the cracks around your doors and windows.
Tip: Elementary heat insulation measures will allow to increase temperature in the apartment by 4-5° С (tape the windows and take insulation measures).
Fact two: Apart from the windows and doors – heat also escapes through ventilation openings, especially if you live on the upper floors.
Tip: As it is impossible to close completely the ventilation opening, place a special door or a piece of cardboard on it. This will allow you to increase temperature by 5-7° С!
Fact three: Electric ventilator can draw out a lot of heat from your apartment.
Tip: Turn off the ventilator as soon as it copes with its task.
Fact four: If your radiators are not warm enough – the problem may be in air locks.
Tip: In order to resolve this problem, it is sufficient to open the radiator tap and to wait until water starts running.
Fact five: Decorative covers on the radiators take away up to 20% of heat in the room. Besides, heating capacity of those radiators that are placed in the niches is 10% less than those mounted on the wall.
Tip: If it is cold in the apartment, it is better to do without any decoration covering the radiators; and while you are still building or renovating your apartment, you should think about not “hiding” radiator in the niche.
Fact six: Foil-covered heat protection screen that is placed between the wall and radiator can increase heating capacity of the radiator by 20%. Expenses for heating will reduce in this case by 4%.
Tip: Glue foil to chip board and place it behind the radiator.
Fact seven: Smooth surface radiator increases heating capacity by approximately 10%. It is proved that dark-brown color gives away heat best. With this color radiator you will receive 8-10% more heat than with the white one.
Tip: After removing layers of old paint from the radiator and polishing it smooth, paint the radiator dark-brown.
Fact eight: If you have long curtains, almost 20% of heat is spent to heat your windows, not your room.
Tip: Curtains that do not cover the radiator allow heat to go into the room.
Fact nine: In winter, 10-14% of heat is lost through the window glass.
Tip: By closing the window with short curtains you will save heat in the room.
Fact ten: Heat losses through open entrance door and broken windows at the staircase may be around 5-15% of total heat losses in the building.
Tip: Shut the entrance door and glaze the windows at the entrance and staircase. This will allow saving heat in all premises of the building!
